Anubis in Dog Form Egyptian God Statue Anubis, the son of Osiris and Nephthys, is portrayed here in his jackal form, though he is more commonly represented as a jackal headed man. Anubis attained his fame after conducting the first embalming in history on his father Osiris, whom was dismembered by his brother, Set. Canopic Jars 4 Sons of Horus Egyptian Canopic Jars were used to hold the organs of the dead after they were embalmed. The lids were commonly carved to resemble the four sons of Horus. The four organs housed by the jars were the lungs, the stomach, the liver and the intestines. Egyptians held no regard for the brain, which was discarded. The heart was left inside the body, to be judged in the afterlife. The set of four Canopic jars are cold cast resin & hand painted. They are all 3 3/4" high.
